Without question, steroids are the pharmacological drug which the majority of bodybuilders depend on. However it should be borne in mind that despite its ability to deliver the best results that bodybuilders crave, it’s always accompanied by many side effects. It’s because of  their desire to equalize these side effects that top athletes resort to using Clomid and before we proceed any further, we should ask ourselves what this drug medication is. Let’s do that and ask.

What is Clomid?

We would be doing ourselves a favor if we know at the start that Clomid is exactly the same drug medication as Clomiphene. The only difference lies in the names with Clomid being the brand name of the same drug.

This drug treatment gained popularity in the 1970s as a drug used for treating infertility in women who are unable to ovulate naturally. This use for the benefit of women has continued to this day.

For men, the use of the drug is vastly different because it’s used in bodybuilding, not in actually building muscle mass, but in eliminating the side effects of anabolic steroids which athletes use to build their muscle mass. Clomid does by converting steroids into female sex hormones.

Athletes also wish to enhance the production of testosterone inside their bodies especially at the end of their course of taking steroids.

Clomid actually attaches to brain receptors, which does the job of producing sex hormones. Once the male hormones have reached the desired levels, strength in an athlete is gained and the amount of muscle mass is improved.

When this happens, the overall stature and appearance of the athlete takes on a new tone making Clomid a very popular drug treatment for bodybuilders despite the WADA Prohibited List of drugs.

The transformation of a bodybuilder’s body

The continued use of steroid substances by men, especially bodybuilders causes the body’s production of male hormones to decline.

When bodybuilders persist in taking steroids and as the dosage becomes more pronounced, their hormonal balance is greatly affected.

This means that the level of testosterone in the body continues to get lower and the levels of female hormones (prolactin, estradiol and progesterone), in their body continues to increase.

As a result, female breasts can start to appear in men, which is also known as gynecomastia, and also causes men to retain fluid in their bodies.

The normalizing effect in this unbalanced hormonal state can be achieved with the aid of anti-estrogens and the most popular, safest and most effective anti-estrogen is Clomiphene or Clomid.

The amazing thing about Clomid is that it can be potently effective no matter what type of steroid the athlete uses and for how long it has been used for. Clomid is the perfect cure for best results against hormonal imbalance.

The impact of Clomid on bodybuilders

There’s nothing novel about the popularity of Clomiphene as a balancing drug for bodybuilders. The drug medication has proven itself highly effective not only with bodybuilders but also with weightlifters and athletes especially due to its amazing positive effects that include:

  • An increase of hormone production that supports follicle formation in women
  • Improved GnRH production
  • A notable increase in testosterone levels

Once athletes complete their steroid course, they generally start to take supplements in order to balance out their hormones which have drastically reduced from taking steroids.

There is a clear misunderstanding here which athletes fail to notice. Once their bodies have gone through a high hormonal imbalance and that levels of their sex hormones have been greatly reduced, the taking of dietary supplements is of no benefit to them.

Clomid however can intervene and do the job because it can directly affect the levels of LH (Luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone).  The production of testosterone is directly affected by LH and FSH.

Clomiphene, the main ingredient of Clomid, will attach themselves to the estrogen receptors and once attached they can control the activities they perform.

The Clomid effect

As soon as Clomid is taken you will start to notice some positive effects 2 to 3 days afterwards such as the:

  • once high values of FSH and LH return to their maximum levels
  • indicators of male hormone return to their ideal normalcy status
  • significant increase in testosterone levels
  • FSH and LH amounts reach their maximum levels.

Recovery of those taking Clomid of course will vary for each individual but essentially, you can expect to achieve full recovery after a period of about 14 days.

In some instances however, the recovery period can be as high as 90 days but despite the different outcomes, it’s clear that Clomid can be a definite help to bodybuilders who wish to improve their physical performance and general bodily appearance.

Restoring testosterone levels using Clomid

Scientifically supported evidence is available to authenticate the claim that Clomiphene does in fact raise the levels of testosterone in men.

A study has shown that a group of men of the ages between 18 and 55 did take Clomiphene for 2 weeks. As expected the results for a majority of cases showed a doubling of their testosterone levels.

However, it was also noted that a decrease in testosterone levels resulted in some participants after a month of taking the drug medication.

Effect of Clomid on men with low sex drive

In another study, a group of 125 men who suffered from loss of sexual desire, as well as low testosterone levels (lower than 400 ng/dl), also took Clomid over a 3 month period.

The result was similar to the first test mentioned with a doubling up of testosterone levels and this test also showed that there were no signs of side effects in the participants.

The long-term effects of Clomid on men with low testosterone levels have also been scientifically tested. The tests showed that the average testosterone levels registered 228ng/dl. After one year of continuous taking of Clomid, levels increased to 612 ng/dl.

After a two year period, the levels fell slightly to 562 ng/dl, and after three years levels still maintained a high of 582 ng/dl).  Bone density was also tested for each participant and a considerable increase in bone density was noticed.

The tests prove that Clomid does in fact work and the most desirable of all was that no side effects were produced from the taking of Clomid.

Bottom line The only way to affirm the efficacious performance of a drug medication is by the conducting of tests to ascertain how the treatment, in this case the taking of Clomid, worked on participants. For bodybuilders, weightlifters and athletes this is extremely good news especially in taking Clomiphene in their daily routines. It gives them confidence in knowing that the drug treatment can help them achieve their targets without the complication of side effects.
